Simple Homemade Custard Recipe
Simple Homemade Custard Recipe! Instagram The cake pictured is a tangy lime flavored cake with a sweet whipped buttercream icing… but wait there’s more! You see the drip? Its a homemade key lime custard… lets get into it! A couple years ago I tried my hand at making a homemade banana pudding. Not the kind where you use box pudding… but the one you actually bake. Although it was quite labor intensive, it was TO DIE FOR! I tweaked my original stove top pudding/custard recipe to incorporate the lime flavor. This cake like many things in my life was inspired by my mother, and for my mother. She loves all…

Vanilla Cake Meets Crown Royal
My client gave me two colors (pink and turquoise) as well as her alcohol of choice, and have me free reign. The cake came together perfectly! I chose a gold glitter cake topper and my favorite gold glitter flakes to tie it all together. As you can tell, I am a huge fan of the ombré cake look, it’s so simple but always looks amazing. Just a few dallops of colored icing, white icing and a cake smoother… and you’ve got yourself a recipe for success! Once crumb coated, the cake took me around 15 minutes to decorate. I’ve been practicing with cake toppers on the Cricut and I have…

Blue Dream
I have fallen in love with the color blue lately! You can never go wrong with a simple cake design and bold colors. I have a million cake combs, but this was my first time using one and OMG I loved the results. The cake took me around 20 minutes to decorate (making it my new go to), but the most time consuming part being the dragees! The amount of concentration needed to put round dragees on a cake with tweezers is ridiculous but the end result is always stunning. A couple mini bottles and a custom cake topper to ‘top’ it off (I’m corny, I know) and thus the…

Colorful Candy Cake
Kids birthdays always excite me because I get to use a lot of different colors! I originally purchased a colorful bag of gum-balls and that was my inspiration. I tried to tie in the colors of the icing with the colors of the gum-balls and I was so happy with the results. I found these mini swirl lollipops from the dollar store (I get more and more amazed every time I step into one) and thought that they would be a nice touch. Since this was for a little girl I had to go with a pink custom cake topper! Instagram Follow me on Instagram to stay up to date with…

Boozy Galentine’s Day Cupcakes
If I had a favorite cupcake at the moment… these would be them. My client wanted something cute and bold for her Galentine’s day gathering, and my mind went red velvet! I used a cheesecake filling and a Pink Whitney icing. Galentine’s day screams glam to me so I opted to go with a funky and colorful icing decoration. I added these cute little sweetheart stickers (from the dollar store, I was chocked too!!!) and little droppers filled with Pink Whitney alcohol. These cupcakes were a huge hit! Orange Ombre Coffee Cake
Where do I begin?! Let’s start with the design, one of my new favorite customers messaged me and inquired about an orange rosette cake. I’ve done rosette cakes before, but I instantly got excited when she asked for ombré. If you’ve followed my page for a while you’d know that I hop on any opportunity to make ombré make an apperance in my cakes because it is so simple and beautiful. She also wanted alcohol, but when I suggested wine she was all in. I was on a hunt to find the perfect mini wine bottles to match the orange and Sutter Home was a winner. The wine bottles paired…

Red Velvet… Cwaffle?
This….. was…. heaven!! My boyfriend purchased me a mini waffle maker, and naturally my mind went “CAKE!!” I promise you, it wasn’t even an hour after I got home that I threw some batter in the maker. My first Cwaffle came out pretty floppy and lifeless… but I was determined. Seeing as delicate and moist red velvet batter usually is, I decided to add a little vegetable oil to my pastry brush and lightly oil the plates on the maker. With the plates oiled, I added the batter and let it stay for about 45 seconds to a minute depending on how crispy I wanted it. Keep in mind that…

Blue, Is that You?
When I received the order for this cake, my initial thoughts were to use my edible food printer. The thing is just as pricey as it sounds, and it works amazing… depending on the images. I searched for the perfect image but once it printed is was waaaay too light. I decided to stick with it and I am so glad I did. With that much color/ink on the wafer sheet, after letting the image lay on the buttercream the color deepened. With that out of the way, I continued with my decorations. A blue drip here, chocolate covered strawberry there and of course a cake topper! The Cricut is…

Pink Velvet Cake
Happy Valentines Day! Lets get into this ‘Pink Velvet’ cake. Rich and moist yellow cake meets different shades of pink and gold dragees! I love Valentine’s Day as much as the next person… but I love making cakes more! I sat and thought about what type of cake would suit the occasion, and Pink Velvet was the first to come to my mind. Let’s not forget the custom cake topper (I cut the top of the heart off on accident, lol). Instagram Follow me on Instagram to stay up to date with my latest cakes!

Strawberry Glam Cake
This beauty is inspired by my favorite ‘Pretty in Pink’ cake, but with all of the glitz and glam! Like many of my customers, I am given color schemes, flavors, and full creative freedom. With this cake, I thought my Pretty in Pink cake was long overdue for a makeover. Moist yellow cake enveloped in whipped strawberry buttercream and garnished with gold dragees! Of course the cake topper is custom made with the ‘Quirky Script’ Cricut font. I purchased a gold crown over a year ago in hopes that someone would be interested in one for a cake, and my intuition always follows through. Instead of a ombré, I thought…
